Art supply retailers offer plastic, ceramic, glass, plexiglass, acrylic, and even disposable paper palettes. Choose what works best for you. Butcher’s tray has a white enameled surface and to clean it, simply fill it with hot water and, after a few minutes, rub off the old paint. Some artists use “stay wet” palettes, which are sealed trays that contain a wet sponge. This keeps acrylic paints moist and extends their workability.
