Winsor & Newton®

winsor and newton,artsy sister,pro markers

Like the name states, this company was founded by William C. Winsor and Henry Newton. The original parent company was called Colart. This was founded in 1832. This London company specializes in premium quality art materials. They dabble in oils, watercolors and pastels. The place this company was founded was in a block home to artists, like Constable. They made their early money not with paint, but with brushes. These brushes were adored by the Queen Victoria, who ordered the creation of brushes ideal for watercolor. In 1937, Winsor & Newton made its first gouache paints. The company also makes canvases.  From this company, I bought their set of pro markers. This set was designed for drawing skin colors. It is a useful shorthand for this sort of nonsense.

Drawing it with pencil is always problematic. This is why I prefer markers. The quality of these markers is Copic comparable. Still, they are worth, slightly less. I have been using them quite a bit, so I know they work dandy. For Christmas, I might get their watercolor painting set. Lately, I have been getting into watercolors. All in all, Winsor and Newton is the go to brand for professional quality art supplies. These are not for the faint of hearted. Get this, only if you know what you are doing. It would be pointless to struggled, with expensive art supplies. Everything in baby steps, my friends. There is no need to go crazy. Once, you get to the professional level, remember. Arts sister deals in professional grade art supplies.
