About Caran D Ache

Caran D Ache was founded in Geneva around 1924. It was known as Fabrique Genevoise de Crayons. It was purchased by Arnold Schweitzer, who renamed it as Caran D’Ache. Around 1929, they invented the fixpencil. It was one of the first mechanical pencils in the world. They later invented a watercolor pencil named Prismalo around 1931. In 1969, they created a metal ballpoint pen. As of 2012, they are being managed by Letts Filofax Group. Aside from pencils, they also make paints and pastels to boot. This is just about everything there is to know about this company.
