This is just another one of my vacation photos. I chose it because it looked pretty interesting and the like. It was taken during the few brief moments that the sun was out. Most of the time there was spent rather cloudy, and there was even a bad storm once. Inside the mainland of the Dominican Republic there was a flooding. The hotel was at least far away from the place. I was afraid that the roads would be unpassable. Going from the hotel to the airport, I was able to see all the poverty in the country.

Tourism based economy doesn't make a middle class of people indeed. It is just good for increasing the gap between the filthy rich and the terribly poor. I think what is needed is some sort of high tech manufacturing job, or something. Any high end industry really. Then again, its not as if the little island has a lot of natural resources to work with. There isn't even timber to turn into expensive furniture. For some reason, I bother to think about nation building from time to time.

This is more common when I am on vacation. I always wondered what it would be like to control my own little piece of land, and all the people living in them. I suppose I should try the game of politics, but I just can't seem to bother enough with it. I just get an overwhelming case of who cares. I was never much of a leader in the sense, that I could not be bothered with getting a group of people to follow a specific plan of actions. They were always so lazy, I always ended up doing everything.

It has always been so, especially in high school and in collage. I do not know why they insisted on group projects. You cannot force feed teamwork. You are either a team player or a burden. Most of the people I ever meat were the latter. I do not know if it is just a generational thing or just bad luck. There is no point in ruminating about the past. At least, not yet.
