Colorful Skulls in a Stand
This is a nice little stand featuring a bunch of smiling skulls. Different people have different ideas about the human skulls. The Mexican culture prefers to decorate it. I don't really know why. Maybe it is a Day of the Dead things. Perhaps, they get decorated as so because outsiders consider those reliquaries as purely Mexican. If people buy them, they will make them. People dependent on tourism ponder off their cultures and beliefs to make a buck. Some things cannot be helped. People need to eat to survive and sometimes surviving is not enough. People enjoy having nice things....
Thinking About Ice Cream
I was thinking and meditating on ice cream. The best one I ever had was in the French restaurant in Barceló Maya Palace. The vanilla was truly vanilla and so was the strawberry. This seems a bit redundant, but i'ts rare to find an ice cream company that does not cheat in both departments. I had almost given up on strawberry, till I tried this once. Normally, strawberries is the worse ice cream. For some reason, it gets really bad in the storages. It always ends up water down and chunky, with the strawberries frozen. This one was perfect, just...
Beach Girls Figurines in St. Augustine
This photo features some cute figurines I wanted to buy. However, there was not much time to buy anything. Then again, we were in a bus tour. As such, there was not much room to take anything. The only thing I managed to buy was a saber. I do not know how long it was in the sword store. The sword was a saber and it was mostly ornamental. It had no sharp edges. Still, as a blunt weapon it works just as well. Now, back to the beach girls. Their outfits are like the dresses from the 1930s and...
Outfit of Ottoman Princess Mihrimah Sultan 1541
This drawing features the pretty dress of the original princess Jasmine. Princess Mihrimah was one of the most prominent women of her day. Unlike most European princesses, she worked alongside her father for the welfare of the country. She was a patron of the arts, and continued to do so even after getting married. Since she hanged out in Europe a lot for diplomatic missions, she needed a European like dress. Her veil was how she marked herself as an Ottoman princess. This shows an interesting blend of both western and oriental fashion. As a whole, it gave me plenty...
Danish Maiden from the 1760s
This is quite the adorable maiden with her pretty dress. It makes me a bit hungry. Doesn't it remind you of the decoration of a cake. Anyhow, this was the beauty aesthetic of the Rococo period. During that time, advertisement was starting to become a thing. Maidens were drawn with pretty dresses in front of stores to lure nobles in. Before then, advertisements were made through town cries. These people would run all over the town shouting slogans. Most of these cries were people from the lower class and were mostly illiterate. This does not diminish their efforts. They relied...
