I did a video blog about my favorite anime shows with female main characters. Here is the written version of the blog as well as the high quality pictures I used. The first one is Air Master.
It is about a maiden that takes up fighting after a failed gymnastics competition. It has plenty of cool fighting set pieces. Blood the Last Vampire is about a vampire maiden hunting other vampires like creatures.
Don’t let that title fool you. Saya has two different anime shows. All equally bloody and amusing. Bubblegum Crisis is about maidens fighting robots while using Strength Suits. Card Captor Sakura is about Sakura.
She releases some cards into the world, and now she has to capture them all again. The first run of the show was a lot of fun. The rest that followed got progressively worst. Claymore has plenty of cool monster fights.
The anime show is overdue for a reboot. Now is the perfect time since the manga series finally ended. Devil Lady follows a monster of the week type of format. It is about a fashion model that discovers that she can turn into a monster demon.
The government uses her to fight other demons like herself. It is my favorite of all the Devilman series. Ergo Proxy is weird and a bit of a slow burn. The main chick looks like Amy Lee from Evanescence.
Excel Saga is just insane. Freezing is a little on the ecchi side. It eventually develops something that resembles a good plot, and the fights are fun. Gai Rei Zero shines with the sisterly relationship and it has fun battles.
Ikki Tousen is like romance of the 3 kingdoms, but with chicks. It has a weird reincarnation type of curse plot. It is the reason why the maidens must fight. Jubei Chan gets her powers from the lovely eyepatch.
It has a lot of fun battles here and there. The second season was meh. Key the Metal Idol is the poster child of existentially depressed Japanese robots. It builds up the hype for when she finally sings.
Madoka Magica has a crazy time travel plot. Mnemosyne has a lot of issues, but if you can look past it, you can enjoy a good, solid plot. It is about an immortal maiden and all the bad that comes from having a strong healing factor.
The show has a really good presentation song. Noir has only one song that repeats itself in all the episodes. It is like Beverly Hills cop of anime. Noir itself is about two assassin maidens and their targets.
Sailor Moon is Sailor moon. Enough said. Soul Eater is about an academy of fools hunting witches and demons. It has a fun Halloween theme. The wallflower is a reverse harem show.
It is about a maiden that becomes depressed when the guy she likes calls her ugly. Years later, her aunt stages an intervention. It is up to these 4 guys to help the wallflower recover her confidence.
The last anime show worth mentioning is Vampire Princess Miyu. She is interesting since she is a vampire that uses fire. Vampires are typically weak to flame. Then again, most folks are weak to fire.
