Last night, we were moving some stuffs to remodel the kitchen. While moving plates I found this adorable little gimmick. I do not know what it is exactly. It does not open on the top. Originally this little ceramic urn, for lack of a better word, was its natural plain color. I wanted to put it in my room by it looked boring.
As such, I decided to paint it. I first read up on types of paints. I was at first going to use oil paints, but then I realized it would take a century to dry. Acrylics is water resistant when it dries so I settled for it. It took about three hours to complete. The little urn show the countryside of Cuba. I added the color as I barely remembered them. The house is yellow, with white doors. The same as in my old house.
To save on time, I did not mix the colors. I used what was naturally inside the paint tubes. I think it came out rather decent for my first attempt at painting ceramic. Painting on a 3D surface offers a new range of challenges. One cannot paint flat, and the shapes of objects have to be accounted for. I had fun making this little ceramic urn a little bit artsy. I just wished I had the foresight to photograph this in its original plain form, to show a before and after.
