• Why are the paints from 1980, I mean what is that all about?

  This means they were made using processes from the 1980s, using pure pigments. The blues are made of a single blue pigment and so forth. There is no cross pollution with other pigments. 

• What is the use of a gel solvent?

  The whole solvent free gel thing is use to help oil paints dry.

• Are any of these paints transparent?

  Normally, oil paints have less transparency than other types of paints. It all depends on the concentration of pigments found in the oil that binds them together.
