Details:

This is a lovely set of oil paints that I own. It was part of a larger set. I decided the paints in their individual set. Oil paints is one of the oldest mediums of painting. It is very forgiving, unlike watercolor and acrylics. Like Da Vinci, you can add layers and layers of oil paints until it looks like a masterpiece. The oil paint stay wet for the longest period of time. It is the best. Like all paints, it has its own quarks. Oil paint was designed specifically for use on canvas. So, if you need to learn to use the brush, it is best to try with watercolors, then acrylics, before moving up to oil paintings. I hope you find this set useful.

  • How are the names of paints decided? Does each company have a different names for the same product?

The labelling rules require some consistency in the labeling across all companies. All art suppliers must have the same Titanium white. You cannot call that type of paint anything else. You cannot also rename it, and all it lily white, because it was not made with lilies.

  • How do the individual tubes store the paint?

All the paints are sealed. Even if you remove the cap, the paint will not spill out. The caps come with a sharp end which you can use to open the paints. So, you know the paints were not tampered if they still have that metal seal.

  • Why is the white paint called Titanium white?

Originally, the white paint was made by lead. This was discontinued with the creation of titanium white. It is really made with Titanium. Though some purists still prefer lead white.

  • How are oils different from watercolor and acrylics?

Oil paints take longer to dry. You can also add different layers of oil paints on top of each other. Normally with watercolors and acrylics the darker colors swallow the lighter ones. You need to go from light to dark, while with oils, you can go whichever way you want.
