Details: Product Description An important collection of beautiful, historically significant iron-on transfer designs from the Embroiderers' Guild. The use of hot iron transfers in embroidery has a long and fascinating history, but they've often been looked down upon by serious embroiderers and have therefore been largely overlooked. They were, however, produced in large numbers and much of the work created from them was of a very high quality. An important though largely forgotten part of the Embroiderers' Guild legacy is the huge collection of hot iron transfers dating back to the early 20th century that were created by members of the Guild. They fell out of favour in the 1960s and the Guild stopped producing them. Many transfers were stored away and haven't been seen since those times; others were simply thrown away. This publication, which consists of one booklet of transfers and one booklet of worked examples, showcases specially chosen examples worked in specific ways as an inspiration to readers to either follow, or work in their own way. This is a massively important collection of beautiful embroidery transfers that will excite embroiderers, textile artists, historians and lovers of traditional and vintage embroidery everywhere. Review Mary Corbet's Needle n Thread -  June 2021 If you tend to hesitate to jump into an embroidery project because of the transfer process, then you’re going to love this! If you like source books for embroidery designs, you’re also going to love it. The Embroiderers’ Guild Transfers Collection is a unique book….The outside of the collection looks like a hard-bound book with an elastic band that holds it neatly closed, like the band you’d find on a Moleskine notebook. When you open it up, you’ll find two sturdy pockets, one on each side of the spread, and in those pockets are two separate books. The book on the left is the Stitching Guide, and the book on the right is the collection of reusable iron-on transfers. … This is a great book to own! … It’s a great value, with 90 designs at your fingertips to transfer, plus a book of tips and stitches to guide you through stitching them. What a great resource! For those who are held back by the transfer process, you can’t go wrong! Honor the Iron-On! About the Author Annette Collinge has had a lifelong interest in embroidery. She is a life member of The Embroiderers' Guild, has been a Branch Chairman, Regional Chairman and Trustee of the Guild, and she is currently the Collection Manager. She is a mixed media textile artist and is a member of the exhibiting group, Studio 21, a group of textile artists who bring together a creative and innovative mix of media and stitched textiles http://www.studio21textileart.co.uk/
