There's no limit to the fun you can have with these cute mini knits! All the projects are quick and relatively easy to make, with very easy techniques to follow. There is a step-by-step section on how to sew the figures and animals together and the patterns are all suitable for competent beginners. With a handy foldout template sheet stored in the back of the book, this is all you need to make your very own knitted cosmos. Review Booklist May 2019 Another adorably small-knits book from Ishii (Mini Knitted Charms, 2017), this time set in space. She admits her design inspiration was more anime than astrophysics, and it shows in the imaginative range of patterns presented here. As in her previous books, most of the designs use DK weight yarn and size US 2needles, and they are all worked flat, which will be a relief to those intimidated by double-pointed needles. The instructions are clear, which is essential as the relatively simple knit-and-purl patterns grow infinitely more complicated once it comes time to assemble the tiny pieces. From the smallest (several aliens are just over one inch tall) to the largest (a rocket, a satellite, and an astronaut giraffe), each design is lovingly detailed, and there is a clear photo of each finished project. Patterns include aliens, planets, astronauts and ground crew, kids in flying saucers, and several mobiles that would make unique baby gifts. The patterns are versatile enough that crafters can be creative with color choice and even size, making this book infinitely fun.— Susan Maguire About the Author Sachiyo Ishii was born and raised in Japan.
