I made a new painter blog. I wanted you to know of the works of 5 of my favorite lady painters. The first one on the list is Angelica Kauffman. She was a Swiss Neoclassical painter (1741-1807).

She was a student of Sir Joshua Reynolds. She made most of her works in Britain. She started her life relatively poor. Her father taught her how to paint. As a child prodigy, she mastered painting quickly, as well as 5 languages.

She made her money making portraits of nobles and Queens. She made a fancy painting of Maria Antonietta. She also made Greek and Religious paintings. My favorite thing about her work is how she renders the hair.

It comes out pretty nice looking. She was also one of the Royal Academy of London. The next painter is Lilla Cabot Perry. She was an impressionist American painter (1848-1933). She was a student of Monet.

Her husband one day got a job as a teacher in Japan. This gave her the opportunity to paint in Japan. She produced 80 paintings of her life there. Japan at the time was during a transition period.

They were throwing their culture out the window. So, Perry’s work captures the complexity of that time period. Sophie Gengembre Anderson is the next female painter I want you to know.

She was a Victorian French painter who worked in Britain (1823-1903). She was a self-taught painter. Her NO Walk Today painting recently sold for a million bucks. She mostly painted cute children.

Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish Art Deco painter, who worked in the US (1894-1980). She decided to create her own unique painting style. She liked crisp, finished paintings and well defined edges.

She made her money making celebrity portraits. The last female painter worth mentioning is Artemisia Gentileschi. She was an Italian Baroque painter (1593-1656). She was a painter virtuoso, who started working at the age of 15.

She had a difficult private life, with a painter teacher taking advantage of her. Her family sued when the bastard refused to marry her. It was a real mess, as all. After the incident, she made a lot of religious paintings featuring women killing men.

Since she worked during the counter reformation, her religious paintings had the characters dressed in baroque outfits. This was done in order to make the Bible scenes seem more accessible.

In any case, I hope thar you find this information amusing. The paintings are up there in no particular order. You can check out the video blog I made for these painters in my Artsy Sister Youtube channel. Please give a like and subscribe.
