Rivière was an English painter. He learned his art at the Oxford University. His father used to teach drawing at the school. He first showed his artwork in the British Institutions.

He used to paint serious subject. However, they were not very popular. One day, he started painting artworks that featured dogs. It turns out that his doggies and other candid scenes were the thing that made him famous. I think that is everything worth mentioning about this painter.

Now, I will review his artwork. The first painting shows Apollo playing his lute. All around him, the animals are sleeping. Carnivorous and herbivores alike are sleeping together in the forest. What is neat about this painting is the realism of the animals. They are all painted life like.

Endymion was a hunter who lived on Olympus. Here we see the hunter with his dogs. He is looking down the mountain.

In this painting, we see a poor man crying. He is being comforted by his dog. It is hard to imagine what terrible tragedy has befallen his owner. In any case, this depressing painting by Rivière deserves 5 stars ratings.

In this painting, we see a little girl trying to study. Her dogie has gotten between herself and her book. The dog's expression is quite realistic. They seem to have a soul of their own.

In this painting, we see a little girl resting in her seat. Judging by her covers and her paleness, the little girl is sick. She is sitting there with her old playfellow. Both do look cute together.

In this painting, we see a dog watching over his dead master. The dog is so serious that he looks as noble as the knight. Despite being tired, the dog is watching over his master, faithfully.

In this painting, we see St. George resting after killing the dragon. He has his hand to his hearth, while he gazes upon the heavens. The scenery is pretty realistic. Its a pity that the horse had to die. Then again, who ever said that killing dragons was an easy job.

In this cute painting, we see a little girl thinking. Her dog is putting his head on her shoulder. He is trying to show some sympathy. The pattern on the carpet has some arabesque patterns.

In this painting, a maid is telling the little girl to bathe. Her dogie is pushing her on. Both do look pretty silly together. It is cute how we see the kitten by the window.

In this painting, we see an old man sleeping. His two dogs are checking up on him. The scenery is pretty realistic.

In this painting, we see a very angry owner. He has just gotten some very bad news. His faithful companion is trying to comfort him.

In this painting, we see a little girl giving her food to the animals. All the animals look very cute and quite realistic.

This painting is part of an allegorical poem about Queen Elizabeth. Here the queen is with her lion. Her lion is so well tamed that he does not attack the lamb. Together, the trio paints a pretty picture.  I hope that you liked this featured paintings. They are all pretty amassing.
