Don Quixote was published in 1605. It became an instant best seller. It was the first genre parody.

In this case, the write was spoofing all the famous knight books in existence. The main character Don Quixote is also a cosplayer.

In a sense, this book was ahead of its time. It predicted the cosplayer trends that became popular in the turn of the century.

Over the years, many different painters have made Don Quixote fanarts. He has statues, movies, ballets, parade floats and even coins.

In this blog, I show you a bit of a sampling of all the famous fanarts of Don Quixote made by various artist.

The most common fanarts feature Don Quixote fighting the windmill, as if it was a Giant. I hope you find these works amusing. My name is Teresita Blanco the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
