As my oldest costumers know, Elvira is the first BJD doll I ever had. She helped me in the development and theme of the website. I have taken many product photos with this bjd doll.
Yesterday, it was Friday. I was like super, super bored. I just did not feel like doing anything in particular. I played the Sims 4 a little, and then I got bored of that too.
Anyhow, it was then when I started thinking of a way to spend my time. I was not in a drawing type of mood, and video games have been really boring lately. Maybe, I am actually bored of games in general.
Regardless, I first tried my hand at sewing. I don’t have a good sewing kit. The only sharp scissor turned out to have dulled. Mother had tried to quick clean it, and she had made it worse.
As such, the scissor was a no go. Anyhow, Since the scissor did not cut, it was pointless to do the sewing thing. In the end, I happen upon a different idea. I decided to take photos of my doll in cute ballet or dance poses.
I have a good reference book for ballet poses. The problem was figuring out how to get the doll to stand. For a while, I looked for something that could serve as a type of doll stand or support.
In the end, I settled for my aluminum easel. You can see it in the first two photos. In the end, I threw a cloth over it, to make it look more artsy. With this concluded, I changed the outfit of the doll, and I putted on her a fine purple wig.
The final thing I had to decide upon was the shoes. I did not have ballet shoes, and the other shoes were all in high heels. After thinking it a bit, I decided to have the doll barefoot.
I thought it would make the ballet photos seem a little bit more arty. From then on, I tried to match the poses I saw in the photos as best I could. Even a bjd doll with a not so advanced body can achieve plenty of poses.
Still, more expensive dolls, doesn’t always mean better posing capabilities. Take my second doll for instance, Bebe cannot stand up on her own. It is a real bother. The third one has elastic joints, so the poses have to a little bit more severe.
All in all, I have not tried much with the other two dolls. I might get around to it eventually, if all goes well. On a side note, Elvira cannot rotate her hands. So keep that in mind when you see the photos I took of the doll.
She also has a defect with one of her legs. One is slightly longer than the other. She can still stand on her own, just fine.
Thought, it is a little harder with the doll being barefoot. Her joint flexibility is also a lot less.
I can’t make her do a split, or a back kick. Still, with her joint limitations I managed to take some nice photos of the dolls.
As far as posing is concerned, it is not the strength of the doll that is important, but the imagination of the photographer.
As far as photography is concerned, all I have to work with are two semesters of Journalism photography.
In the ethics class, the teacher encouraged us to break the law. Talk about hypocrisy.
Anyhow, at least the degrees is useful for writing. There are is a large history of Journalists turned novelist, ranging from Unamuno to Marylin Manson. I threw in the last one to be funny.
As far as photography techniques are concerned, I learned to customize camera settings to take the best photos. I have been thinking of some creative nonsense for future photo sessions.
All in all, I want to avoid repeating a poses as much as possible. If you are interested in getting a doll similar to mine, Ucanaan sells them.
Just write the name in the search of Artsy Sister, and you will find the dolls.
From her, I have gotten a dress set for my doll. It came with everything, including the shoes and the wigs.
I hope you find this little blog of mine informational, or at least amusing.
As for the current dress of the doll, it was an off brand type of deal. I am just happy that it arrived in one piece, eventually.
As for the wig, it was Muzi Wig, which you can search for in Artsy Sister.
Those wigs are pretty affordable, and they come in different colors. The bead bracelet is handmade.
It was done with a bead kit. The necklace was done in a similar fashion.
As for the pearl belt, it is a magnet bracelet with a magnet clasp belonging to my mother.
I think that covers just about everything pertinent to the items worn by the doll.
The last thing I should mention is the camera. It is a half a decade old Fujifilm Finepix S1 camera. It produces high quality photos.
All the photos I take are with that camera, with the exceptions of some that I take just for the Facebook or Instagram.
I hope you are having a good 4th of July. As for me, it is uneventful. There is only so much a person can do with a Curfew.
There is a Curfew where I live. It makes no difference, because there is nowhere to go.
The plague doesn’t seem like it is ever going to end in the US. It is only going to get better when people stop being a selfish, douches.
Also, having the mask on your face, but not covering your mouth or nose doesn’t work.
It seems pretty obvious, but not for some. It’s like wearing sunglasses on your forehead. Sure, they look stylish, but they do nothing to block out the sun from your eyes.
They should teach basic germ theory to all students, and that they will go to hell for purposely spreading a virus. I mean, who died and named those douches supreme overlords of the entire human race?
There are laws that criminalize the spread of infectious diseases. Those laws should be expanded to include this plague.
I remember when I was in Middle School there were Kids who used to spread the flu to all classrooms.
They were always sneezing on you, and laughing in your face. It seems like those kids did not change when they became adults. Still, there are people who just don’t know about germs.
Not knowing about basic hygiene is also a real problem, if you ask me. I mean, can you imagine if the plague was with zombies.
The way some people are behaving, all highly populated areas would turn into Racoon City.
Well, enough doom, and gloom.
I think I rambled enough already.
I hope you like these fine photos I took.
I hope you are having a good 4th of July, in a place that is plague free.
Even if you are lucky enough to be in such a situation, you should wear a mask in a crowded spot.
Viruses mutate faster than any living organism. There might be something worse just around the corner waiting to get you.
On that dour note, Artsy Sister over and out.
