Tadema was a British romantic painter. When he was young he suffered a terrible illness. Since he was so fragile, his family allowed him to spend his time painting and drawing. As such, he developed his artwork. His early paintings focused on Egypt and some historical subjects.

Later, he switched to Greek historical scenery paintings. I think that is everything worth mentioning about Tadema. The first painting worth reviewing shows ancient Egyptian Chess. Chess is a game that is as old as time itself. As such, here we see two men playing the game. A girl is watching them play. The scenery is pretty realistic. Even the wall paintings look Egyptian. Tadema did a lot of work.

In this painting, we see the Pharaoh with his dead son. The mother of the boy is crying over his lifeless body. Before him, the priest do not know what to make of it. The other guy beside him looks pretty depressed. Behind the Pharaoh, I can see a slate with ears. It is a real bummer about a lot of things.

In this painting, we see an Egyptian Juggler. Several Greek people are watching him perform. This one was from the historic period of Alexander the Great. You remember, that he took over Egypt. The scenery too is up to date with the time period.

In this painting, we see how the ancient Egyptians used to pass the time. In the foreground, we see music players and dancers. Another is being fed wine. The scenery is pretty amassing.

In this painting, we see Moses and his adopted Mother. The scenery in this painting is really pretty. For a background, we see the slaves working in the river Nile.

Above, we have the last painting by Tadema. It is a bit unusual. This painting depicts a flood. What I like best is the messed up expression of the cat. He really does no like the water. This painting goes to show you how quickly the flood came to this region. It was so unexpected that the boy did not wake up from his bed.  I have more reviews about this painter planned for the near future.

The first painting shows a Greek bath house. The girls in the foreground are playing in the water. In the background, we see girls going about.

In this painting, a girl has found a gift by the window. In her hand, we see a bouquet with a letter. She is looking outside to see who left the missle. What I like best are those Greek windows. I had no idea that they worked as such. Tadema really knew a lot about ancient Greece.

In this painting, a soldier has just come home. He saw that his wife had fallen asleep while knitting. He said hello to her by dropping a bouquet of flowers in her lap. When she would awaken she would see that her husband had come home.

In this painting, we see a maiden blocking the door. A guy is looking for a girl he likes. Her friend is telling him that she is not at home. However, we can see her hiding behind the chair. Overall, it is a pretty silly romantic scene.

Above, we see an adorable Greek painting. Here this girl was just reading a love letter. She was interrupted when her lover boy gave  her a gift of flowers. The girl is blushing in the face of all this attention. You can tell that the guy really likes the girl. The scenery is pretty realistic.

This painting we see two honeymooners. They are seeing their reflections in the mirror. What I like best are the patterns on their wedding robes. It is really elaborated.

In this last painting, a cute girl is listening for the footsteps of her lover boy. He is coming in with a bouquet of flowers. As for the girl, she is dolled up to receive the man she likes. The scenery is pretty realistic. The Tiger fur works pretty well.

The first painting shows one of the first art galleries in western history. Here we see people looking at paintings during the time of Emperor Augustus. The Roman interior is pretty realistic.

In this painting, we see another Roman gallery. This one displays Sculptures. The first one I think is a Greek philosopher. The sculpture in the background is the Laocoon group. The decorative patterns on the floor work pretty well.

Above, we see another genre Roman painting. Here the Romans are going to the Theater. People from all the ages are gathered together. This was a common venue of socialization in Rome. For this reason, everyone wore their best clothing.

Above, we see a maiden inside a temple. She is blowing incense for the gods. I find interesting the painting of the Goddess on the wall. The scenery too is pretty realistic.

In this painting, we see the Roman Emperor at the theater. They are watching people do acrobatic feats. The main image focuses on their private booth. Tadema shows you how royalty used to enjoy the show. They have flowers, foods and servants. Truly, they had the best seats of the house.

Above, we see a pretty lovely painting. This random guy is showing off his relief sculptures. The indoor scenery works pretty well.

In this painting, we see Claudius. When he was small he suffered a terrible illness. This illness left him deaf and a bit weak. This saved him from being killed off by Caligula's wrath. When Caligula was finally executed, the Romans legionnaire came to proclaim him king. Claudius here is begging for his life. He thinks that Caligula has finally gone to kill him.

In this painting, we see the poet Sappho composing music. He is being watched by a Greek audience. Even back then, poetry was not a major event. Hehehe... Nah, I am just messing around. It is still a pretty neat painting.

In this painting, a mother is going away. She is kissing her daughter goodbye. They both do look cute together. It seems the mother is on her way to the Colosseum.

In this painting, we see a lot of cheery Greek people. They have a lot of music instruments and the like. In the background, we see more of the guest. The red paintings decorating the room works pretty well.

Here we see the last featured painting by Tadema. It shows two maidens that do not realize they are competing with each other. Both are trying to see which is more beautiful. The scenery is pretty amassing. I hope that you liked this last Lawrence Alma Tadema review.
