Today, I wanted to show you three distinct landscape paintings. They are based on travel photographs. Before the plague, I used to travel about the Caribbean at least once a year.
These days it is rare that I go out of the house to a restaurant. I am not going to bog you down with the current state of the world. I just want to show you these nice watercolor paintings.
They are not meant to be perfect mimicries of the photographs. Rather, I just used them for inspirations to produce landscape paintings. The first one is a cityscape of Cartagena, Colombia.
In the foreground, you see one of those slum houses with the tin roofs. Behind them are big skyscrapers. I chose to paint that landscape for no reason in particular.
I just liked the shape of the houses. It didn’t seem too hard. I am teaching myself how to paint with watercolors. The best way to master that skill is to practice, practice, practice.
The next landscape painting features Key West, Florida. I didn’t add any cars to the street. You can see a few historical looking buildings and an overgrown willow tree to the left.
I think it was a decent effort. The final painting is a seascape of Roatan, Honduras. This is the view I got of the little island as seen from the cruise ship. The island itself has a lot of interesting shapes.
As with most places, it is good to look at from afar, not from up close. Needless to say, you will never see me stepping foot into Roatan ever again. I hope you like my new watercolor paintings. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
