I did a new Art video blog. You can check it out in my Artsy Sister Youtube channel. Please give a like and subscribe.

I spoke a little bit about all the art movements happening at the same time. In art classes, they pretend that one movement ended when the other began. Reality is never so simple.

The first movement I mention is the Pre- Raphealite. They like art before Raphael showed up. They also like fancy colors Shakespeare’s Ophelia and Dante’s Divine Comedy.

The second art movement is Neo Classical. It is just a continuation of what was started in the Renaissance period. It focuses on classical Greek, historical paintings, genre, landscapes, still lives and orientalism.

The third movement is Realism. It paints reality as it is. It also denounces social problems. The fourth art movement is Romanticism. It is a reaction against academic art.

It dramatizes nature and makes religious motifs. Following we have the impressionists. They studied light and experimented in ways of painting. They liked painting Citylife and leisure.

The expressionists are all about invoking emotions with their art. Primitivism is about borrowing ways of painting from Tahiti and other colonial places. The final art movement is Art nouveau.

It came late in the century. It is all about decorative flower patterns. It mostly shows up in advertisements and buildings. Anyhow, I hope you found this educational.
