Birth of Venus X Yubel Yugioh Watercolor Fanart
Written by Teresita Blanco (The Artsy Sister)
A few weeks ago, someone from reddit asked me to paint Yubel like one of my French monsters. It was mostly them reacting to my summoned Skull painting in a Michelangelo pose. Michelangelo is Italian by the way. It is for this reason that I painted Yubel like of my Italian monsters.
Since painting Yubel alone was boring, I decided to spoof the Birth of Venus by Botticelli. I drew the characters from the painting a lot closer for my version. Yubel was the titular Venus. The seashell she is ridding on belongs to the Toon Mermaid. The guys to the left and right are the Ojama Triplets.
They are normally bald. I thought it would be funny to give them hair like the 3 other fellows in the Birth of Venus painting. This is just all the stupid things I was thinking about during the planning stages. It took me a while to make this painting. There is a reason why I only do these watercolor projects once a month.
They are physically and mentally exhausting. I am not as fresh as I appear to be. I first drew the pencil lineart. I then traced it with pens. After erasing the pencils, I added Kuretake watercolor over it, with a bit of Arteza paints for the hues I didn’t have. I am not all that skilled in the color mixing aspect.
I try my best regardless. If you like my artwork, just get a Teresita Blanco print book, you don’t have to read it. The ebook version you might have to read it a bit for me to make a buck. Who knows, you might just end up liking it.
I prefer to self-publish because nobody accepts Unsolicited Manuscripts. Plus, they only publish the works of people who they have published once before, or a family member, or a celebrity or a cereal killer. All joking aside, I hope this painting makes you smile. Bye, bye and God bless.
