Silk has problems making children like all weavers. This was established by the first Hollow Knight game. Herrah was forced to crossbreed to make a child. So, she decides to make children, using the lifeforce of her followers.
Eva and Lace
The first two batches were Eva and the Lost sinner. Eva was too weak and the Lost sinner too rebellious. After discarding them, she made Lace and Phantom. For some reason, she grew bored of them. Perhaps, they lacked the ability to produce descendants.
So, they were not useful for her long term goals. The Twin Princes were a different prototype. She tried to make children using her silk and non-weaver DNA. This produced empty husks.
Hornet
Hornet was kidnapped to be used as raw ingredient for Silk’s experiments. When Hornet takes her powers, she becomes a weaver queen, thus losing, her wyrm side. Herrah might be related to Silk. Her name can be read two ways.
She is Grand Mother Silk or Grandmother silk. Her daughter and her followers went to Hollownest to make dresses for the Pale King.
The weavers ended up settling away from Pharloom, away from the tyranny of Silk. So, maybe Silk is kidnapping her grand daughters to reforge them into her ideal perfect child. I hope you find this lore dump amusing. Bye, bye and God bless.
