Today, I got around to making a new Hollow Knight fanart. In this one, I am referencing the Gustav Klimt painting the Kiss. It wasn’t common for artworks to feature folks kissing.

Kisses belonged to the realm of intimacy. It wasn’t something that was considered proper for a painter to paint. Klimt worked during a time when the Salon was repressing all types of new art.

Painters either painted like the old masters, or their work wasn’t featured in the Salon. IF your work wasn’t featured in the Salon, you didn’t sell. Klimt’s financial situation gave him the freedom to paint whatever he felt like.

This affluence is even show in some of the materials he used to make his artworks. The gold in this painting is actually made with golden leaves.

Klimt was inspired to use gold when he saw the Byzantine Mosaics at the Church of San Vitale. This is only noticeable if you actually look at the artwork in the real world.

At the time that this painting was made, it was seen as a perverted artwork. In the end, Klimt decided that if his work wasn’t going to be liked by the many, he would make it for the few.

These days we can all appreciate Klimt’s artwork. It is incredible to imagined that this beautiful, intimate painting of a man kissing a woman caused such a scandal back in the day.

In my Hollow Knight version, I am showing the Traitor’s Child kissing the Grey Mourner. This kiss is happening in the dream world, as shown by the pinwheels in the background.

This is what Zemer dreams about when she sleeps. She is dreaming about this when the Chibi Knight enters her house, forcing her to face her cruel reality. Her lover is no longer in the world of the living.

Both were torn apart because the Mantises disapproved of their union, because Zemer was a foreigner. Both Zemer and the Traitor’s Child are also female. I chose to have the Zemer kneeling, since she is the tallest of the two maidens.

When Mantises mate, it isn’t uncommon for the females to start devouring their husband’s head while in the mating. I am slightly alluding to this by having the Traitor’s Child be the one standing.

Zemer knows this, but she wishes to become one with the Traitor’s Child. Even if the Traitor’s Child is dead, she still lives inside Zemer. Her lost lover has consumed Zemer’s entire existence.

She lives now only to mourn her dead lover. In my version, the floor decoration gives you hints of this cruel reality. The floor is covered with delicate flowers. The thorns allude to the graveyard of the Traitor’s Child.

Yes. This is a beautiful dream, but like all good dreams they must come to an end. This also ties to the delicate flower quest. Love like the delicate flower is something beautiful, but fragile, that needs to be protected.

If one isn’t careful, you can lose everything you hold dear, and have to start all over again. The Chibi knight, unlike Zemer hasn’t lost hope.

This is why he undertakes the delicate flower pilgrimage in order to bring love, and hope to all those he gifts the flower to.

Anyhow, I hope you like my new Hollow Knight Fanart. I worked hard to capture the feel of both the Hollow Knight and Gustav Klimt painting.

I also made it for Pride Month. I already had a male x male mating pair. This is the female x female mating pair of the Hollow Knight.

I hope you like it. My name is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
