Today, I wanted to talk about my writing process. It is about time I mention it. I wanted to focus on the editing process in specific.

It is almost as important as plotting the book. The first edition of the books is done before I publish them. I never send a raw manuscript to the printing the press.

The first thing I do is a grammar and spell check. Once that is out of the way, I read the entire book out loud.

It is important to read the book out loud, even if you don’t have an audience. This is necessary to catch mistakes.

There is a difference on how you read something with your eyes, and with your mouth. When you read your work out loud, you are more likely to catch mistakes that you missed.

If you end up making a series, it is important to keep all the details throughout all the books.

You will find that the first book of the series is the one that gets the most edits. This is true for me since I have a hard time starting a new book series.

Once I get into the momentum, I am able to write fluidly. I cannot tell you how many times I have reedited the Sacred Mask 1.

Most of the time, I am removing unnecessary details, or shortening the dialogue. I get into the bad habit of having characters break into soliloquies.

It really slows down the momentum of the book. So, if you can say the same thing, with less words, don’t be afraid to trim the fat found in the dialogue.

In the real world, it is rare for people to break into rants. IT is fine to have one rambling character, but not the entire cast. Speaking of rambling, I think I rambled enough about my book edits enough.

I just wanted to show you all the effort that goes into the creation of each of my books. I am my biggest critic, and I take my work very seriously. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister, Writer Extraordinaire. Bye, bye and God bless.
