Hotel Lobby Photo
The 4th of July ended uneventfully. A lot of mother's friends visited and I had to make with the pleasantries. Mother was happy that I had become such a nice hostess. My polite and distant persona is always interpreted as being nice. One of the visitors came with acute chubby baby. I spent most of the party walking with the baby. It wouldn't have been too much of a problem if I was a bit shorter. My back hurts now, from arching and holding the hands of the baby to help her walk. The baby was pretty big for her...
Green Adoration in Cancun
Don't you hate it sometimes when you forget how to do something? This happened to me while I was staying at this hotel. I wanted to try the different color isolations, but I forgot how to do it. I spent like half a day fiddling with all the settings of the camera, till I got it right. This is the result of my experiment. I call it Green Adoration. Why I called it so? I don't know. It sounded catchy and a bit humoring. There is a lot of green around the goddess statue, so it seemed proper. The green...
Strange Offerings
Religion aside, I found this stand of offerings to the Virgin Mary rather interesting. Each little figurine represented an answered prayer or a miracle experienced by the worshiper. Taken on their own, each figurine represents a bad episode in a person's life that got resolved satisfactory. Only the guy who gave the item knows what it is all about. If you look closely, there is a couple of Jewish stars thrown in there. A good number feature a woman's chest. I guess it has to do with breast cancer. It is an affliction that many women are sadly familiar with....
Cartagena in a Nutshell
It is rather rare that a I get a chance to get a wide view of the city. This photo is from Cartagena Colombia. It shows most of the city as seen from the Convent on top of the mountain. It gives a nice perspective on the city. The light does not help it one bit. It makes the city look bleak and dismal. I was only there for a week, and when I went walking into the city itself, I hated it. I thought I was going to get mugged everywhere I went. There is a lot of poverty...
Dog Rules Bizarre Shop
One has to wonder at the odd things one finds in shops. Its had to imagined that some of these craft items would sell. Still, the lights are still on the shop, so money has to be coming from somewhere. At least the Dog Rules sign is hilarious enough. All in all, this presentation window was by far the most interesting. It is a pity that I visited the shops close to dusk. I frankly prefer not to use the flash. The white light has a way of distorting the colors of the image. Since this is a window image,...
