I found a flashback that shoes Hinako getting bit by a fox. There was a doctor’s note talking about foxes having rabies. Foxes are not naturally aggressive. However, if they bite, they probably have rabies. Rabies got removed from Japan in 1957. However, Hinako got bit in the early 40s. Rabies is a slow burn type of illness.
