Today, I got around to making a new Hollow Knight fanart. In this one, I am referencing the Gustav Klimt painting the Kiss. It wasn’t common for artworks to feature folks kissing. Kisses belonged to the realm of intimacy. It wasn’t something that was considered proper for a painter to paint. Klimt worked during a time when the Salon was repressing all types of new art. Painters either painted like the old masters, or their work wasn’t featured in the Salon. IF your work wasn’t featured in the Salon, you didn’t sell. Klimt’s financial situation gave him the freedom to...

Today, I made a new Hollow Knight fanart. After looking through a bunch of famous paintings, I decided to do a reference to a famous Van Eyck Painting called the Arnolfini Portrait or Wedding. This painting is famous because of all the small details in the portrait. The original shows a couple in their bedchamber. They are about to consummate their union. Both are barefooted as shown by the shoes scattered about the bedroom. The wife is in the process of raising her skirt, to show her willingness to reproduce with her husband. There is a mirror in the middle...

Henry Fuseli is quite the interesting artist. He was active as an artist between 1750s and 1820s. His style is that of Romanticism. For those that do not know (or care) romanticism came about as a challenge to the Enlightenment. While the Enlighten noblemen where thinking that peace and prosperity laid inside the fumes of an industrial factory waste pipe the Romantics where thinking "yeah right". They hated how materialistic the world had become. Fuseli is of this lot. it is for this reason that his art is so fantastic, so bizarre. Like monsters out of a nightmare. His innovations...

Today, I did a new Hollow Knight Painting parody. This time I was poking fun at an Edgas Degas Ballerina painting. He has more than 1500 ballerina paintings. He was born rich, but one day his family went bankrupt. To escape the poor house, Degas began to paint ballerinas like crazy. His ballerina paintings always sold well. Through them, he was able to rebuild his family fortune. Changing these Hollow Knight maidens was an easy task. Monomon’s Jellyfish body lends itself well to the ballerina anatomy. I removed her creepy coat, and I exposed her arms. For Marissa, I made...

I was reading a biography of Gustav Klimt while I was in the can. I like to read while I am doing my business. It is a good way to relax and do something productive with my time. I was looking at the paintings and drawings over the top when I noticed something peculiar. Gustav Klimt can’t paint feet. Well. It is a bit of an exaggeration. He has drawn feet before, but the mere act of drawing them frustrates him. The features painting above is the inspiration of this blog. One foot shows signs of being redrawn like 100...
