Like other great romanticism artist, Waterhouse had an interest in medieval legends. That time of spirituality, saints and the bizarre fascinated those skeptic romanticist. They where tired of empty logic devoid of meaning. They sought to escape the new materialism. Thus, the looked into the past to find inspiration. Ok, the first painting features Saint Cecilia (1895). She was a blind saint popular during medieval times. She is know as the patron saint of Music. She was only a young teenage girl when the Romans had her killed (along with her husband). As they prepared to chop her head off,...

John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) was part of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. They were a group of artists that imitated the style of Raphael (one of the 4 legendary Renaissance artist). Their lot are contemporaries with the impressionist artists. Some of Waterhouse paintings have an impressionist feel about them. Like his pals, Waterhouse had romantic aspirations. I did a new Hollow knight fanart. It features Bapanada and her husband in the gardens. I did a survey to decide the setting. The gardens ended up being the overall winner. I didn’t do the Queen’s garden per say. I just made it the garden that I saw in this painting. This painting was made by Konstantin Makovsky. It features the artist’s children doing gardening chores. I thought that it would serve as a good model for my Hollow knight drawing.   There are a little simple, but cute. There really isn’t much to say about this drawing. One...

I did a poll to see the couple that I would draw this week. The winner of that poll was the Pale King and the White lady. After looking at a bunch of paintings and movie poster, I settled for this little number. I felt like it would be fun to dress them up in other outfits.   As to be expected, the White Lady towers over her husband. So, her dress needed to be the center of attention. The Pale King I dressed in red. It was the only way for folks to notice him. I think the Hollow...

Today, I felt like making a new Hollow Knight painting fanart. I chose to do Britto because I like his art style. I think it would combine well with the Hollow Knight Aesthetics. Hollow Knight is a very grey game. I wanted to see how the Grey Mourner Ze’mer and the Traitor’s Child would look like with a bit of color. Both characters within the game have grey colors. Their backstory is pretty depressing. They were lovers that were not allowed to be together. The traitor’s child is eventually killed. Ze’mer is left completely by herself to mourn the loss...
