The first painting focuses on a poor girl. Whenever rich people used to sow the fields, the leftovers was given to the poor. Here, we see a poor girl carrying whatever she could. The maiden herself is very pretty. It is a pity that she was born poor. In this painting, we see an updated version of the good shepherd. This time we see "The Shepherdess". Tadema was a British romantic painter. When he was young he suffered a terrible illness. Since he was so fragile, his family allowed him to spend his time painting and drawing. As such, he developed his artwork. His early paintings focused on Egypt and some historical subjects. Later, he switched to Greek historical scenery paintings.
