art, art history, painting, review -

Today, I wanted to write about my favorite painters. Every artist has a favorite painter or two. My favorite painters may not be the same as yours. One’s favorite painter is a reflection of what we consider good art. They also represent what type of art we aspire to create. Without any more preambles, I am going to list my five favorite painters, and the reasons why I find their art so appealing. I chose five painters because there is not one particular artist that I consider the best that there ever was. I like the artworks of these painters...

I recently finished drawing a new Scary Cat volume. I decided to relax by drawing a fanart of one of my favorite games. IT is easy to draw Hollow Knight characters due to their simple design, and unique charm. I chose American Gothic as the theme. I thought that it would be fun to do an art parody using Hollow Knight characters. The drawing was made with markers and coloring pencils. I added the side-by-side comparison for you to see what the original looks like. This is just for the folks not familiar with this famous painting. This is Teresita...

This Saturday I visited the Van Gogh Exhibit. The Exhibit took place in the Gusman Center in 174 E Flagler St. Getting to the venue was an interesting experience, in it of itself. The street in front of the Gusman Center was being repaired. We had to park a block away in order to make it to the exhibit. In Miami, they are always destroying and reconstructing streets. Even with a GPS, you still get lost because Google doesn’t know which streets are being blocked. Enough about the driving situation. The interior of the building had a lot of beautiful...

This is a cute little watercolor I made inspired on a photography I took while I was in Colombia Cartagena. I didn’t try to replicate everything. I just worked off the composition and then I expanded from there. It is fun to try a bit of landscape from time to time. The painting was given form by a black fineliner pen. It is important to make certain that the pen is not water soluble. It must say archival quality, in order to combine it well with watercolors. The interior belongs to a church. I included the original photo so you...

I recently did a little short video featuring 4 pouring paintings. Normally, I would have done 4 different videos. Since the paintings where tied by the rainbow theme, I just did the video of the stuff together. I sped up some parts in order to make the video 20 minutes long. This is about 5 minutes per pouring video. Every so often, I like to try to make pouring videos. I just got a few canvases and something to hold up my cellphone. After I did the recording, we then took care of editing the video a bit. I tried...
