May Spring Butterfly Photography
It has been a while since I photographed my butterflies. Well, they are not mine per say. They just live in my garden. This Sunday the illumination looked just right. There was also a healthy number of them clustered in a small area. So, it seemed like a good a time as any to photograph them. At first, I was aiming to photograph my zebra butterflies. Unfortunately, they were not in a cooperating type of mood. So, I photographed these orange butterflies and a monarch one that visited the backyard. The monarch butterfly was especially beautiful today. I was able...
Priam’s Birdwing Butterfly and Others Watercolor Painting
It is so difficult to identify butterflies when you only have a photograph to work with. It was easy for me to guess what they were if I photographed them in the wild. The ones you see in these two watercolor paintings were photographed in the Key West Butterfly preserve. They are not native to Florida, but the preserve provides them with all the flowers they need to live long and prosper. I originally started painting one type of butterfly at a time. In the second painting, I showed you two. These butterflies all live in the same butterfly preserve,...
Black Swallowtail Butterfly and Zebra Butterfly Watercolor Paintings
Today, I wanted to show you another set of watercolor paintings. These two butterflies I painted regularly frequent my garden. A few, I only see them close to sunset. The Swallowtail butterfly I photographed it close to sunset. She was standing still while resting on top of the ferns. The butterflies like to hang out in the ferns often. They are a good place for the butterflies to chill out. The Zebra Butterflies are the most common butterflies in my garden. I will now focus on the watercolor paintings themselves. I have been going through a watercolor phase. It is...
Spring Butterflies and a Blue Jay
Today, we spent the time working in the garden a bit. I only went indoors just now because of the dizziness. It is like super-hot in South Florida. It is enough to melt one’s brains. Anyhow, I saw this butterfly on my new sunflower and so I took a photo. Sunflowers are just precious. I have a couple of new saplings sprouting here, and there. Soon, I might have new tomato plants. When a tomato gets ruined by the birds the hawks missed, I usually just cut it on half and burry it in the dirt. Give it enough time,...
Butterfly Book
This is a photo I took a couple of months ago. I was just wandering a bit through Key West. They had a lot of random junk for sale. This is one of them. It looked real pretty around the edges. I have always wanted to have a silly art store with all nice things of my own choosing. I mainly have a preference for knickknacks. I tend to use a lot of archaic words. My main issue is that the words tend to get terrible modern meanings. One of my favorite word now sucks. I just hate modern day...
