Today, I wanted to write a blog about some of the nice décor I saw in the Barcelo Maya Palace.
When one talks about a resort, it is important to talk about the ambience. It depends on what you consider important.
As for me, I like to look at random decorations and blog about them. The first thing I wanted to talk about are these cute figurines.
They are ceramics that are drawn over. Most of them feature faces of maidens in different outfits.
It has quite the peculiar cartoonish style that is quite charming. In the gift shop, there are smaller versions of the figurines you see littered about the hotel.
There are some that feature couples while others are cute cats. The cats have a unique splash of paint over the heart.
This pattern is seen in other little creatures as well. It is kinda like used to punctuate the mood that the figurine is trying to convey.
The figurines also come in more abstract forms like hearts, or round plates with just female faces. It is rare to see guy faces drawn in this style.
Still, I managed to photograph a husband-and-wife figurine. I think they look pretty cute, and chummy together.
The versions that you can actually get are a lot smaller in order to fit in your luggage. Their price ranges from 400 to 1000.
It may sound expensive but remember that Barcelo is located in Mexico. So, that price is in peso. If the dollar keeps dropping, it might one day be worth indeed 400 dollars.
It is quite a pity this financial situation making everything so expensive. In any case, I traveled to Mexico, Cancun to take a vacation from everything for at least a week.
I photographed so many things. Among the other things that I photographed; they were different renditions of the Dia de los Muertos Skulls.
Not two are alike. It is nice to see that they are all so very different. These skulls are pretty common in all the shops that I visited.
I didn’t limit myself to just the Barcelo Maya palace for my window-shopping escapades.
Still, I want to keep things organized, so I am not going to mention anything that took place outside the resorts. I didn’t pay much attention to the jewelry.
Jewelry is more of my mother’s thing. She gets herself a new pair of earrings of a bracelet whenever she can afford them.
She is always changing up her Successories. It is cute. She lets me borrow them whenever I feel like changing up my look.
All in all, I am not much of a jewelry fan. Though, I do appreciate when they have a unique design.
So, I took a few photographs here and there of jewelries that drew my attention. The next thing worth mentioning are the random dresses and other artisanal stuff.
It didn’t draw much of attention. When I am shopping for souvenirs, I am always thinking about how it would work with my Doll photoshoots.
There is also the price to consider. Sigh…it is such a pity.
I think I ranted enough about the wall art décor and statues of the Barcelo Maya Palace as well as the souvenirs.
Each of them has their own unique charm. This is more of a visual blog anyway. The ramblings are more for the few that still retain the ability to read.
If you made it this far, I salute you! In any case, my name is Teresita Blanco the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
I hope you like my Cancun Travel blogs. I have a lot more where they came from. I took a lot of photographs, and I did a lot in just one week.
Well, I tried to make each day count.
I think next time I will make another foodie blog. Well, now I am officially done with this blog.
