Last night, I went with my family to see the Allura show in the Faena Theater. It has become a bit of a family tradition to go see whatever new show Faena is offering.
The artistry of these shows makes it an enjoyable experience for both men and women. The last one we saw was called Tryst.
The new current one is called Allura. We were going to see it last week, but the date was pushed forward to November the 5th.
My experience of the show and the food is segmented in two parts. I already reviewed the food. This blog will focus on the show itself.
We got decent seats in the back bottom row. Even if it was from a side angle, we got a good view of all the action.
When we bought tickets to the show, we didn’t know what to expect. Based on the description of the show, we knew that it was sci-fi related.
The star of the show was a manic pixie named Rocky Lanes. The maiden wore purple hair for the show. She did about a dozen wardrobe changes.
Her singing voice was sublime and powerful. She could have easily been the entire show. She was just that good of a songstress.
Her guitarist friend was also amusing, and he did a great solo. I forget what his name was. I think she called him Freaky.
Now back to the main singer. Aside from introducing the acts, she was also in charge of engaging and joking with the audience.
The main butt of the joke was this old man with a Playboy Bunny shirt. She gave him plenty of liberties, all for the sake of comedy.
Another person she joked with was a German maiden named Eva. The way Eva said her name almost sounded like a death threat.
As Rocky joked, “My name is Eva, and you better not get it wrong!!” The life of every party depends on the hostess, and Rocky was certainly very amusing.
Of all the songs Rocky sang, my favorite was Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. Most of the music was classic rock from the 70s and 80s.
She even sang Abba. Rocky’s purple hair and many of her wardrobes gave her a nice Starfire type of vibe.
One of the Starfires moved to Florida, so Rocky could easily play the part, if she wanted to get into the movie business. I think I ranted enough about Rocky.
Now, it is time to rant about the Allura dance shows themselves. Overall, the show lasted about two hours. The performances came in three different flavors.
They were weird dances, aerial acrobatics and feats of strength. The biggest highlight was performance where a woman in high heels was carrying about a man.
That skinny blonde maiden was really strong. I took some photos of all her feats of strength. It is one thing to do weights, it is another matter to carry about someone taller, and beefier than oneself, while sporting high heels.
As far as areal acrobatics, the best dance was the one done by two maidens. The pair formed different figurate while ridding inside a weird fish net.
Another noteworthy acrobatic act was done by the bellhop lady. Next, I am going to review that artistic dances that do not lean too heavily on acrobatics.
The dancing in the rain performance was quite beautiful. The rope dance was a little on the wild side.
Due to the strong red lights, it looked as if the gates of hell had opened, but in a good fun type of way. The silliest of dances featured three porcupines.
This is a dance I recommend for all you Furry Sonic fans. Another fun dance featured four maidens dancing with hoop dresses.
From far away, they resemble jelly fishes or another type of bulbous marine creature.
The last one worth mentioning was done by the many face robot maiden.
In the opening, she shows up with a round, purple head, covered in purple drapery.
I wish I had managed to take a decent photo of that creature, but I got distracted when my spaghetti arrived.
The waitresses are super stealthy like when bringing the food. They can easily startle you when they pop up over your shoulder.
Then again, I started easily. I am a very jumpy type of person. All in all, Allura was a fun, unique experience.
If you are vacationing in Miami, don’t forget to see the Faena Theater Allura show.
I hope you find the photos I took of the show amusing.
You are allowed to take as many photos and videos as you want of the show, as long as you do not use the flash, and you give Allura credit for all their hard work.
I think I wrote enough about this topic for one day. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye, and God bless.
