Yesterday, I was bored and so I decided to paint this box. I had this white box just sitting on my room looking rather boring. As such, I decided to paint something girly on it. It took about 8 hours or so to complete. I started at 3 pm and then I ended it at 1 am. On the sides I drew climbing vines and white flowers. I also painted the bottom of the box with butterflies. The first thing I drew was the delineation of the drawing with pencils.

The second thing I did was paint the borders with lamp black. I do not know why the color is called lamp black. Anyhow, the second thing I did was paint the background orange and gold. It gave it a nice interesting hue to it. There is not a lot of things painted orange. It gave it a nice glow feel to it. Afterwards I painted the bottom and the sides of the box. The last thing was the fairy. I used an actual flower to model the dress, as well as the butterfly wings.

The painting itself is not complete. I ordered an acrylic varnish to protect the paints. People do not usually add varnish to the acrylics. However, they too can get damaged with age. I also thought it would give a more glossy look to this wooden box. This is part of the reason why I painted the back of the box. It will give me time to practice with the application of the vanish, without messing up the key feature of this box. I hope you find it adorable.
