Today, I wanted to show you a raw page from my new Scary Cat book. In this one, the friends are exploring a spooky house. Mana has just made it to the music room.
She naturally got distracted from her search, since she likes musical instruments. Most of the kids I know like to play music badly. Since the Spooky House is the central focus, I went all out with the background details.
Everything looks like it is supposed to, without going too crazy with the details. It has to maintain the Kawaii Chibi aesthetic. I had the floor pattern repeat itself throughout the house.
I have a lot of yellow and brown coloring pencils. My color choice is dictated by how much I have of a certain coloring pencil. The main characters are drawn with markers.
It makes them stand out against the colored pencil background. I hope that this raw page makes you smile. It is part of my new book Scary Cat and the Spooky Mansion. I have a new Scary Cat book in the woodworks.
I drew a page, and I designed all the looks of all the characters that are going to show up in the fifth book. I like to dress them up differently in each book.
