The Summer has finally arrived to South Florida. I have gotten into the habit of doing a monthly report on the plants.
A good portion have gone the way of the dodo. It is all a learning experience. I am still struggling with the pumpkins. I have managed to get them to bloom.
All I need now is to get a single pumpkin to start growing. All I want is at least one pumpkin. If the pumpkin crop turns out to be a failure, I will plant instead bell peppers.
I have a lot of bell pepper seeds. I have at least one bell pepper growing. The trees have also stopped dropping leaves.
Today we went to shop for dirt and silly sticks. Some of the plants we had transplanted did not fit completely into the hole. They were sort of just sticking up, in a weird square.
I decided that they needed a bit more dirt, for health reasons. I saw recently an interesting video. It talked about good usages for the middle of the roll of toilet paper.
The carton part can be used to start seeds. It can also be shredded into tiny pieces and mixed in with the dirt. It is good for retaining moisture. It also prevents soil compartment.
The new pumpkins and squash plant is at least useful for drawing in new types of birds. They like looking at the new planter. I suppose they find it useful for something or other.
The leaves are at least pointy. Maybe they are looking for bugs. Sometimes bugs can burrow inside the pumpkin leaves. The birds then come to nibble at them.
After adding the sticks, I also added a bit of dirt in my raised planters. They tend to loose a lot of dirt on the sides due to erosion. I wanted to add a little bit more, but I was like super tired.
I went down like two pounds toiling away in the garden. Any fellow looking for a good workout needs to get into the gardening thing. You will never loose as much weight as you do out in the garden.
Getting attacked by mosquitoes also helps. I always wear long sleeves and long pants for protection. I also wrap my head like a ninja. The new rosebush has yet to put out flowers.
I have about 3 rose bushes. Some of the new plants I got have been slowly dying. It is a bit of a difficult pain, but I am trying to manage. I have also a new sunflower. It is growing in the pumpkin patch.
I am curious about what type of sunflower it might be. With any luck, it might be different from my usual Mexican Sunflowers. I let all my sunflowers grow. They are just beloved by tiny birds, and bees.
I saw a couple of new bugs here and there. The lizards also have a bunch of new kids. I see often now tiny little lizards. They are just the cutest little darlings. I also have some new types of spiders.
One was even on my dress when I changed my attire after bathing. It like super scared me. I think all the Florida Spiders are poisonous. It is something to watch out for. Even if they do not bite you, their hairs are bad for you.
One time I got like a bad allergic reaction on my face from being a bit too close to a Spider I did not notice. It went away after washing my face. Still, it stung a bit. This is why I always bath from head to toe after gardening.
It is the best way to remove any critter that may have gotten past the protection of your clothing. As of now, I am like down to 165. It is a good weight for me. Ideally, I should be in like 151, but 165 is good enough.
There is no need to exaggerated with the weight loss. Well, this is about it as far as my gardening nonsense goes. I hope this silly little blog inspires you to try gardening. Aside from the photos I took, I also made a silly video blog.
It is in both Spanish and English. You can see it, if it pleases you, but you don’t have to do so if you don’t want to. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, Bye, and God bless. Jesus Christ, I am like super tired. I am going to go to sleep already.
