This is another one of my nice anime drawings based on pretty birds. The maiden is wearing a dress I designed based on that bird. The more common name for the bird is the red billed streamertail or the doctor bird. It is a type of hummingbird. It has a lot of nice coloring, and a lovely tail as well.
The bird is indigenous to Jamaica and it is also the national bird as well. These feathers make a nice humming sound, as the little bird flies. Only the males with the long tail feathers get the ladies. As to be expected, the dress is based on the male bird. Most female birds tend to be rather plain.
Years of selective breeding caused the males to become more elaborated. This would occur too in the human world, if the ladies became a bit more picky about looks. I like hummingbirds a lot. They visit the house every so often. It is a pity that I have yet to take a single photo of a bird.
As you may expect, the tiny birds rarely stand still. I have been thinking of putting up a fountain bird bath. I would put it in a photogenic spot. Maybe by my window. I could then be able to finally take a super nice photo of a hummingbird. The drawing itself was made with the ever popular markers.
I can see why it is the choice marker for a lot of artists. The lines were made with Stabilo pens. The paper I used was Strathmore mixed media paper. It seemed like the logical choice because I was using marker and ink. Both tend to be different from one another.
The lines look rather clean because I drew the lineart first with pencil. I then erased the pencil lines, which left a very light relief or imprint on the thick paper. I then traced over the lines with the Stabilo coloring pens. Lastly, I added the markers. This created a sleek anime drawing.
The pose itself was based on one of those model poses. Sometimes I just google one, just for kicks. When model poses don’t help the dress, I then look at works of art. The neoclassical chumps are always useful. I think this is about it, as far as the drawing is concerned.
The book is starting to show some progress. I am more than halfway done. I need to get around to publishing more of my fantasy books. Lately, I have been working a lot more on the website. There is only so many things I can do at once, and one must learn to allocate time adequately.
I hope this information helps you in your artsy endeavors. As far as markers Markers are concerned, I chose markers, set C. This set had 36 markers, with mainly soft pastel colors. It was the type of colors I was going for. I might add more markers in the near future, but I will get to it, when I get to it. For now, they will have to do.
