Now that I think about it, I should start signing my work at the front. I normally do not like to sign my paintings, because I find that it ruins the aesthetics. I prefer to sign the back of the canvas. Still, some douche can easily remove that portion and then write their name on it. I guess I should find a clever way of signing the work in a way that I do not find it annoying. Till them, I know that this was painted by me. I took the first photo of it when it was completed. I suppose I could add my signature already. However, I already varnished the final product. Putting a signature over Varnish is not the brightest idea. Speaking of Varnish, most people do not use acrylic Varnish. They think their paintings will stay dainty for years, without it. I guess it is possible with acrylics. However, most acrylics have not been time tested. Who knows the lifespan of such a paint product. For now, it is the favorite one of people.

So, I guess this is what folk have to work with. As of now, I am refraining from starting with my oil painting set. Oil paints are a long project, and I like finished with things quickly. If I ever have enough time, and I find myself in the proper mood, I will attempt it. Still, I would not hold my breath till them. As for this painting, I finished it all in a day. I started around 8 PM and I finished around 3:30 AM. So let me do the math a little. It took me 7 and a half hours. I suppose it is rather quickly indeed. Most people take forever to make a mess. The issue is that you have to have the painting already planned out. When I say planned out, I do not refer to doing a sketches, and models around it. I normally just skip most of the traditional steps to making a painting. As you already know, I never had a formal painting training. I am a learn as I do sort of person.

Most people could learn in such a fashion, if only they had the confidence and patience to try. As you paint, you must analyze the quarks of the medium. As of late, I have been thinking of making a couple of instructional videos. It would certainly jazz up the quality of the website. I will do to the best of my abilities impart whatever skills I possess. Till then, I suppose you will have to read it and weep. Now, back to this adorable painting series of mine. Here we have my protagonist Alice, and she is in disguise after escaping jail. It is more interesting when the paintings tell a bit of a story. I have six canvas panels, and I will have 6 paintings in the series for now. Mostly, it is Alice in this or that. The next one is going to be inside a pickle. This Alice series also features glitter. Normally, people put glitter with glue, but I found that acrylic Varnish is a good binding agent for glitter.

In order to seal it, I then add a final layer of varnish over the painting. This keeps any loose glitter from falling out of the painting. It also protects the final work from UV rays. Think of acrylic Varnish as sunscreen for your painting. I do not know if it helps or not. It still gives it a nice clean surface. It also makes the colors look glossier, when looked from different angles. The color scheme is based on stuff from the real world. I do not like to go crazy with putting thought on the colors. Most of the time, I am just winging it. I trust that my senses will tell me which colors to use. I think this should be it for now. The paints and brushes are from US Art Supply. The canvas too belongs to the same set. The white paint is from Daler Rowney. I am always running low on white acrylics, so I bought a bigger bottle. The glitter is from US Art Supply. As for the Varnish, I got from Liquitex. They are the only company I know that produces quality acrylic Varnishes. I hope you find this information useful for your little art projects.
