As the name states, the archlute is a perk higher in the lute scale and size. I thought that was a silly joke, or something. In any case, I still have more instruments to showcase to you.
It is incredible just how many music instruments are there in the world. There as many as there are different types of humans. Now for a bit of history. The instrument was developed in Europe in the Renaissance around the 1600s.
It is a mix between a theorbo and a tenor lute. This instrument has about 14 strings. They are tuned to play in the d-minor chord. It was designed to be a solo instrument.
Over the years, the archlute began to steal the thunder of its predecessor the theorbo. During the baroque period, it was used as a melodic bass instrument in trio sonatas.
If you want to hear the archlute in full action, you can check out Corelli’s Opus 1 and 3. The archlute makes an appearance there every so often. It also appeared in many of Handel’s operas.
These days its still gets some classical play here and there. Still, when they are forming classical bands one rarely hears the word archlute. This is more the pity. The archlute is such a lovely sounding musical instrument.
If you are guitarists looking for a new sound, do give the elegant archlute a shot. And finally, the drawing itself was made with the humble fineliner pens and coloring pencils.
Any brand will do, as long as you put your best effort in rendering your drawings. Good art supplies can only take you so far. And even a caveman with a stick can play a sick beat on any rock. Bye, bye, and God Bless.
