I did a new Astarion fanart. This time I combined him with Barbie. I feel that he is the new Barbie of the internet.
Folks just can’t seem to get enough of the elf vampire. I also feel that Astarion has a lot in common with Barbie.
He goes on a quest against his will to ensure his own survival. He is pretty but feels self-conscious about his look.
Like Barbie, he also can’t see his own reflection in the mirror. In the Barbie movie, Barbie’s mirrors didn’t have glass.
Therefore, she couldn’t see her own reflection. Like Barbie, he has a boyfriend with a one syllable name, Tav.
Tav like Ken took over his own world by becoming the Absolute. These are about all the parallels I could think of in such short notice.
Truth be told, I just wanted to draw Astarion in a Barbie outfit. The pose was a bit difficult, but dynamic. I felt like practicing foreshortening a bit.
I simplified his face to make it more anime. Anime is closer to my drawing style. I think it came out better than my first Astarion fanart.
