It has been quite a bit since I last posted. I have been spacing them out a bit, because I can only seem to write well at night. Since there are only so many hours in the day, I must employ my time well. The book that I have been working on is about 90 percent complete.

I need to get around to publishing the other volumes of the Saturnastra series. For the moment, I am working on a children’s book. I have about two pages done. I am coloring all the pages with markers, and other markers, because markers are expensive. T

o practice with the markers, I made pretty fashion drawings like this one. They to not take up a lot of room. I am always a bit stingy with my art expenses. For most of my life, I had to do art with a shoe string budget. It was not till a couple of years ago, that my family was able to fund my artwork.

I have been practicing, and learning. In the end, there is only so much a person can learn from reading books. One eventually has to put things into practice. A good example of practicing is this fashion drawing. While at University, I developed an interest in fashion.

It is funny, considering that I am not what you would consider the most fashionable person out there. This is even less true, with not being able to head out as all. Still, I was interested in the idea of fashion. I wanted my characters to dress well, even if the person who draws them is always wearing pajamas. It is for this reason that I read up on the subject.

I did not bother with Magazines, because they are just there to sell you stuff, and to tell you of the lives of people I don’t really care about. I never got why people obsess so much about the life of others. In the end, you can only experience so much from second hand.

There comes a time when you may want to live a life worth writing about, or something. I don’t give it much thought about living the lives that are usually on a pedestal. I know what I like, and I am happy with it. Still, there is always room for improvement. At the moment, you folks already know what I am working on improving. It is pretty obvious if you think about it.

I think I this is enough on my life as a whole. It has been pretty much the same thing, which is a good thing. As long as things do not get worse, I am quite happy with my existence. Anyhow, the drawing features a barn swallow. It is one of the most common birds out there in the world.

They tend to live in human barns. They are one of the species out there in the world that are very happy with human activities. While other species perish, the Barn Swallows thrive living among humans. I chose to draw the bird because it was the national bird of some country or another.

I forget which one. In any case, the bird had plenty of pretty colors. I chose to base the design of the lady, and the dress on the bird. From what I read in my fashion books, makeup is part of the whole fashion deal. So, I take the makeup arrangement when designing the pretty dress.

As you may already know, the maiden has the colorations of the male bird. Male birds must to look prettier, but in the human world it is expected for ladies to shine, or something. In any case, I am not too big on designing clothing for dudes. It is not a high priority item, nor does the idea of trying it out amuse me in the very least.

The drawing was made with markers and Winsor and Newton Markers. The lines were made with Stabilo pens. The paper was Strathmore mixed media paper. I first drew the lines with a pencil, and then I erased it. I then added the pens using the trace evidence of the pencil left behind.

Normally, I would trace over the pencil, with the pen, but when erasing the pencil lines, the pens would developed smudges. Ever since then, I now erase the pencil lines first, before adding the pen lines. It is best to go slow about it, because sometimes the imprint left by the pencil is like gone, and then you just have to wing it.

I hope you find this information about the drawing somewhat amusing. I hope it helps you in your own drawing projects. Before drawing the maidens, I would first design the outfit. This removed a lot of the guess work, when it came to doing this stage of the drawing.
