I got around to posting my two new watercolor paintings. They are based on butterflies I photographed in the wild. The wild is a bit of an exaggeration.
I saw them in a butterfly preserve in Key West. It still works just as well. It is interesting to experience butterflies with your own two eyes, in the real world.
I have a serious bug phobia. Still, that doesn’t stop me from appreciating the beauty of butterflies. As long as they do not land on me, I can be super peachy about it.
The other part of the painting is choosing the plant elements. For the blue morphos, I chose red flowers that I found inside their enclosure. It do not know if they feed from them.
Still, I saw them hanging out in their general vicinity. So, they must like those flowers in some way or another.
For the black butterflies, I chose an interesting looking lavender flower. I think it might be lavender. I do not know. I used to have that flower in my garden.
So, it was nice to have taken a photograph of it for future references. I am almost done with my butterfly paintings series. I am starting to get a little bored of it.
I need to decide what my next painting series is going to be. If I do not come up with something, I will just continue painting butterflies. I use watercolors to make these paintings.
I have gotten used to working with that medium. I can usually finish a watercolor painting in about two hours. If the painting is more complicated, I might spend four hours on it.
I first build up the drawing with pencil. I traced over it with waterproof pens. Finally, I add watercolor paints. I have been using glitter watercolors for some of my butterfly paintings.
It gives a nice shimmering effect to the wings of the butterflies. You can see it more in the Blue Morpho butterfly paintings.
I think I ranted enough about my watercolor paintings. My name is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
