Today, I wanted to rant about the French Restaurant I visited in Barcelo Maya Palace. You need to make a reservation for it in order to be allowed to enter it.
None of the menus have prices. This works fine because we went on an All-inclusive vacation. All the food included.
You get free house wine or a soda. My mom and brother tried the house wine. It was pretty good.
The waiter was polite and attentive. I have only nice things to say about him. This was a four-course meal. I took a photograph of the menu.
Now, that I think about it, I think I should have photographed the English menu. Oh…well. Oopsie.
Anyhow, you can get an entry, a soup, the main course and dessert. You also get free bread. The butter doesn’t have any salt.
It practically tastes like nothing. This is the only complain I have. Then again, you do not go to a fancy restaurant to gorge yourself on bread.
I skipped the soup because I do not like drinking soup. I got shrimp as appetizer. I also tried my mother’s raviolis appetizer.
Both were pretty good. For the main course, I got the duck. It was different…
I thought it was going to taste like chicken, but ducks are a completely different bird. The texture of the meat was closer to steak.
The flavor was pretty decent. Brother got lamb and my mom had steak and shrimp.
The proportions where just right. It is designed to leave room for dessert. If you like chocolate, the chocolate box will not disappoint you.
If you do not like chocolate, you can just get the ice cream. The strawberries in Mexico are a lot sweeter, than the ones you can find at your local Publix.
Do give them a try. The ice cream texture was also silky. It is indeed a nice gourmet ice cream.
Even the waffle cone was delicious. All in all, it was a fine culinary experience. If you ever do vacation in Barcelo, do give this French restaurant a visit.
You will not regret it. At least, I hope you do not regret it.
They ask about your allergies before getting your order, so that works well.
The scenery and the music ambience were also peachy.
I think I ranted enough about this restaurant.
My name is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister.
Bye, bye and God Bless. I made a short video of my visit.
