I wanted to show you some nice Christmas paintings. It is a little early for Christmas, but whatever. The first couple of paintings are by Norman Rockwell. He was quite the prolific American painter.

He made front cover arts for various magazines. When you see his paintings, you see traditional Christmas. I wanted to focus on Santa Claus. There are no Nativity paintings.

There are a couple of paintings with children discovering that their father is Santa Claus. Other show Santa like a true being made of flesh and blood. There is a funny painter showing a cowboy running into Santa while in the wilderness.

Dali also made a pretty cool looking Surrealist Santa with drawers in his chest. I also like one that features a Native American after shooting a reindeer. For him. Christmas is just an average Tuesday.

A good chunk of paintings feature families around the Christmas tree or doing the decorations. Christmas has Celtic roots. Originally, it was Odin who gave presents to good warriors to help them survive the battle.

St. Nicholas eventually evolved into Santa Claus. This Eastern Orthodox saint used to make wooden toys that he gifted to poor children. So, a man like Santa Claus used to exist in the world.

I think I ranted enough about Christmas for one day. There is going to be a Video blog of Christmas in my Artsy Sister Youtube channel. Please do give a like and subscribe.
