Today, I was in the mood to paint a cityscape. After looking through my photos, I settled on this one. The place I chose to paint has a special meaning to me. I lived in the Savannah apartments for almost 15 years.
It is the longest I have ever lived in any place. I tend to dream about that place from time to time. It wasn’t the best place to live, but it wasn’t terrible either. It was vanilla. Vanilla is good.
We ended up moving because we outgrew the place. We were no longer small brats, and we needed more storage space.
Given enough time, I might grow nostalgic for the current place that I am living at.
This painting is not a faithful recreation. I am not trying to mimic life. There would be no point to it. Cameras exists. I am just trying to capture the feel of living in that apartment.
