Hollow Knight Mario Kart Game Parody

Today, I did a Hollow Knight Mario Kart parody. I swapped out all the Mario characters for Hollow Knight bugs.
In the foreground, I have the Pale King. He has the only kart with chainsaws. As the King, he is a bit of a cheater.
He always has to be number one, no matter the cost. For his princes, he gave them karts that have normal wheels.
This makes it easier for him to ruin the carts of anyone that dares to approach him. He is the type of King that wants to rule forever, no cost too great.
In the end, his ambition was his own undoing. All in all, I was going for a comedic tone. I color matched the karts to specific zones.
The Pale King’s kart has the same hues as the White Palace. The Hollow Knight’s kart has the godseeker hues.
I broke the pattern for Hornet and the Chibi Knight. Hornet’s kart is red because she is an edgy tween.
The Chibi Knight gets a little grub kart because grubs are cute. As the youngest sibling, he gravitates towards cute things.
The Hollow Knight gets the biggest and slowest kart. I mixed into it some of the elements of Bowser’s kart.
Both are the “final” bosses of their respective games. Despite having a big kart, the Hollow Knight is still a little too big for it.
I thought it would look amusing to have him look comically big, in relationship to his kart. One of his wheels has a patchwork.
His father already bumped into his kart. For the background, I chose blue hues to allude to the city of tears.
The City of Tears seemed like a good racetrack. It also provided a neat contrast with all the foreground elements.
Aside from the drawings, I did a Youtube video showing the different steps.
