Today, I was in the mood to do another painting parody. I made a parody of The Swing or The Happy Accidents by Jean Honore Fragonard.
He was a Rococo painter. Rococo was all about humor, beauty and silliness. It was meant to contrast the seriousness of the Baroque period.
In my version, the Pale Lady is playing in the Swing. A Mantis Traitor is Pushing the Swing for her.
I added little shoes to her tentacle legs. I did that in order to have her lose one of her shoes, in order to better parody the painting.
In the bottom of the painting, you can see the Pale King, her husband, getting a nice view of her underskirt.
This is why I have him blushing. The setting is The Queen’s Garden. It is a sharp contrast to a previous painting parody that shows the couple in the White Palace.
In the Palace, everything is baroque seriousness.
In the Queen’s Garden, the King and Queen of the Hollow Knight get to relax, and just be themselves for a couple of hours.
The Mantis Traitors all roam the Queen’s Gardens, so I figured that they would be her vassals.
They don’t like the serious, warmongering aspect of their Mantis Tribe. They just want to fool about in the Queen’s Garden, eating pollen and being happy.
Mantises are capable of being vegan. Pollen is mostly protein. Overall, the Hollow Knight game takes itself a little bit too seriously.
It is too baroque. In my fanarts, I want to add some levity to the story.
Just because the real world is dark and depressing, doesn’t mean that the gaming world must mimic that aesthetic.
In any case, this is my latest Hollow Knight Art History painting parody. I hope that this drawing makes you smile.
This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
