Today, I wanted to show you my latest calligraphy ink paintings. I was tired of just doing random blobs. So, I decided to add a little bit of writing into the mix.

I made these paintings using Pixiss ink and black paper. The first painting I made was the word mom.

If you flip it upside down, it can also be the word WOW. So, you can read it in whatever way you so desire.

You can even mirror mode it to create the words WOW MOM or MOM WOW. I started by hydrating the paper with water.

Ink reacts differently when it comes in contact with water. Normally, I would use running alcohol to thin out the paint.

Due to the smell, I decided to try out water instead. I used purified drinking water, instead of tab water.

The effects were interesting to say the least. The ink just splattered differently. In order to make the light colors stand out, I would add white ink first.

The black paper tends to swallow up color pretty easily. So, you need to use plenty of white ink to make the colors stand out.

You do not need to add white ink if you are working with metallic or glitter inks. I took a photograph of the painting without adding the calligraphy.

Once I was satisfied with the background, I added white ink to spell the word Mom. I added magenta ink over the white ink to create the color pink.

I repeated the process until I was satisfied with the colors. I think overall it was an interesting effort.

I am quite happy with the Calligraphy painting that I made. In the second painting, I did a Heart and the Letter U.

I was trying to write Heart U or Love You. I used the same color palette as the word Mom.

As you can guess, I was making these two paintings for my mother.

It is a purely sentimental painting, but not without merit.

If you have parents who love you, it is important to show them that you care about them from time to time.

The Love You painting was also made with black paper.

I used plenty of water to help the ink flow. I am applying my pouring painting techniques to my ink art.

This time the Heart and U wasn’t too defined. I think it ended up pretty decent.

I took photographs of the paintings, details and the wet versions of the paintings.

It is important to take lots of photographs during the painting process.

You learn a lot from watching paint dry.

There are also videos of my two ink paintings.

You can see them both on Tiktok and on Youtube.

I worked really hard in making these two paintings.

I am still a bit of a novice with ink. I learn by doing.

The more ink paintings I make, the more I will master this new medium.

It is fun to always try something new.

I think I ranted enough about my paintings. My name is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
