I made new ink art. Since it is Christmas time, I decided to paint snowflakes.
I had never done snowflakes ink art. So, it was an interesting project.
I learned as I went. I took photos of the wet and dry versions of the paintings.
I also photographed a few details. It doesn’t snow in Florida. So, I looked up a few snowflakes for references.
Starting with the first painting, I had no idea how I was going to make it.
I started by saturating the paper with ink. I added blue ink.
I curved the paper to allow the blue ink to spread about.
This also makes the paint opaque. Once I had the background element, it was time to make the snowflake.
I went for a simple design. I needed add enough white ink to make the snowflake, without drowning the blue hues.
I think it was an interesting effort.
In the second painting, I had a right idea of what it was going to look like.
I made multiple snowflakes.
These ones had more angular square patterns.
I painted them pink for variety’s sake.
I used two different hues for the background.
Like before, I oversaturated the paper with ink.
I bent it to allow for a smooth color wash.
It had a nice blue and yellow hues.
After adding the pink ink, I used a spray bottle to add a bit of white snow to the mix.
All this did was lighten some of the colors.
This also added a crisp texture to the finished product.
I think overall it ended up looking rather nice. I am pretty happy with it.
I hope my artwork makes you smile. Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. Bye. Bye.
