Today, we woke up in a traveling mood. The day was just too beautiful spend it indoors. So, we got in the car and we drove to Wahoo Bar and Grill in Islamorada.
Along the way, we took in the sights and sounds. When I say that we drove there, I mean that my mother drove there.
She is always the one who drives the car. She gets tense when my brother drives the car. So, if we are all together in the same vehicle, she insists on driving.
There was a bit of traffic in the middle of the road. Folks like to slow down their cars to look at the people on boats. They tried to cover up the view with a fishnet.
One day, someone came and pocked holes in it. So, now, you can kinda see the folks in the boats having fun. This is enough to draw attention of the vehicles, but not enough to make a good video of it.
This is more the pity. The net ruined the aesthetic of the place. If there is traffic, just make an extra lane. Then again, this is easier said than done, specially in Miami.
The roads in Miami are like the Mantle of Penelope. In the morning they are built, but at night they are destroyed. This is why the road projects never end. We eventually arrived at my favorite seafood restaurant.
The place is pretty crowded because I keep blogging about it. Before I took notice of the place, it was a ghost town. While waiting for our food, I noticed something interesting.
A dude had caught a shark in his fishing line. It was a pretty large nurse shark, I think. You can see more of it in the Youtube video. The guy went to a lot of trouble to set it free.
You need to remove the hook before setting the shark free. This is easier said than done. First, you gotta tire the shark. Then you get some bolt cutters to remove the hook, before setting it free.
You need to wiggle the shark around a little to let the water enter his lungs. Otherwise, you are not doing anything for the stupid critter. So, that was nice that he set the shark free.
I am a pro-shark type of person. You will never catch me swimming in the ocean, but I like their visual aesthetic. Anyhow, I made a video of the guy setting the shark free. You can see it in my Tiktok and my Youtube.
The video is sped up just enough for you to get the general idea of what you have to do. The next thing worth ranting about is the food.
It was pretty yummy. We jumped straight to the main course. I had the shrimp. My mother and my brother had the whole snapper.
They catch those fishes just outside the restaurant. It doesn’t get more fresher than that. For dessert, we had the key lime pie and the cheesecake.
The dessert portions are starting to get small, but it is to be expected with this economy.
Everything was cooked to perfection. I ate so many little shrimps. My mouth waters just remembering what I ate a few hours ago.
I am writing this now while the memory of today is fresh in my mind. Once we finished eating, we roamed about the dock for a bit.
We saw a rose in the ocean. So, that was interesting. My one regret is that I forgot to bring a hat.
The sun was burning right through my skull. I was squinting most of the time. Other than that, it was a perfect beach day.
One has to take advantage of those days. If we had stayed at home, we would have never seen a shark getting fished out.
I think I ranted enough about Islamorada and Wahoo for one day. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
