It is tradition that most Catholic painters make a Virgin Mary painting. Following in suit, I made a fancy Virgin Mary painting. I made it during the time of Hurricane Dorian. I wanted the Virgin to move the stupid Hurricane away from the Jamaican people. She complied as soon as I made the silly promise. I followed through it. It is interesting to make a religious painting.
I have not gone to church in years. I am not a big fan of it because I actually pay attention. All the rituals repeat themselves. It is part of tradition and all that nonsense. As for this Virgin Mary, it is from Cuba. People not familiar with the Virgin Mary do not know that she has plenty of manifestations. Practically every country has their own version of the Virgin Mary.
Their version has to do with a miracle. In Cuban, she appeared to some fishermen. They were stuck in the middle of a storm. The storm placated as a little idol of the Virgin Mary floated in their direction on top of a piece of wood. They brought the idol back to a town called Cobre. All the Cuban churches have a replica of the original.
She is different from most Virgins because she has darker skin. She has more of a tanned look to her. This is why my Virgin Mary is painted a little darker. She is also depicted in gold. The Son also follows in suit. This painting was done with acrylics. I also added glitter to the painting.
The color of the painting looks cooler in the physical world. There is one last thing to mention. The Jamaicans have always been mean to the Cuban people in the past, and present. They even strike Cuban women and children. This is nothing out of the ordinary.
If a country has ties with the Russians, they are likely to be mean to Cubans who escape. None of this matter too much in the long scheme of things. Injustices happen in the world all the time, and people don’t care. They may denounce it, but they will not do anything about it. It is easier to pretend to care, than to do something caring.
I am just assuming that nobody is going to read any of my nonsense. It is a long description for a pretty painting. The halo was done medieval style. Most painters do not put a lot of effort into making the halo. It used to be cooler in the old days. Even if do not like Catholics or the Virgin, I hope you like the skill I employed in making this fancy painting. In it of itself, it is a nice pretty picture.
