I was down in the Florida Keys with my family. I was itching to eat a bit of ice cream.

So, I went into this shop. It was near our parking spot. I do not like to eat food while standing, for so convenience’s sake I gave this shop a chance.

The first thing I noticed was the smell of freshly baked cookies. The cookies where quite big, and they came in a decent variety of flavors.

I came in there for the ice cream, so that is what I went to look at. I liked that they had Dulce de Leche Ice Cream.

It is totally my favorite ice cream flavor. My brother had that large ball of coconut with chocolate at the bottom. I tried a bit from my brother’s threat.

The part that was chocolate free was really yummy. As for the ice cream, it had an overall good texture. It didn’t have any icicles that sometimes form when the ice cream melts and gets frozen numerous times.

The Dulce de Leche portions where there, but they didn’t completely overwhelm the vanilla portion. The cone wasn’t stale. It had the proper consistency.

A single ball was 6 bucks. If you get three ice cream balls, it comes out to 8.50. So, it is more cost efficient to get more balls of ice cream per cone.

I took a panorama photo of the dessert menu. It should give you a general idea of what to expect of this café. Of the two things we had, they were great.

If you happen to be roaming Key West, do give the Mattheessen’s Homemade Café a visit. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
